 Publisher features:
  • Create .DRMX files (locked .DRM files) from .PDF files - extremely secure encryption system, with central Digital Rights Management (DRM) control over usage - details of the security model and background to the local, central and communications security system used are available to corporate customer security departments on a confidential basis - see Permission settings, below, for more details
  • Create .DRM files directly (PDFs with additional controls but not requiring authorization) - provides controlled PDF distribution with no cost - basic version is designed for issuing sample and evaluation versions of materials - these have restricted number of times they may be viewed and no printing is allowed. Distribution of .DRM files without such restrictions can be enabled for publishers (e.g. mass distribution of proprietary marketing, sales or technical information) for a fee - see Pricing & ordering for details. User-specific DRMs can also be created via the User Lists facility enabling DRMs to be sent to users and not require an authorization process (effectively these are pre-authorized for one or more users - require Pro or Pro+ license)
  • Add optional document description, ISBN, Version number and version retention to metadata stored on the Drumlin central DRM server
  • Add application-specific watermarking to printed output, giving extra protection when printing is permitted; with preview facility
  • Publishing details logged to local disk file (PublishingHistory.csv) in - also logged to central Drumlin web site

    • Start and end dates for document opening
    • Number of times document may be viewed (0 to unlimited)
    • Number of times document may be printed (0 to unlimited)

    • Password protection - Drumlin's own secure password protection. Password is required to open a document that has already been authorised
    • Must be online: can only be opened if user is online and connection to Drumlin DRM site established - includes client-independent date/time check
    • Must be registered: can only be viewed if end user has registered their Drumlin software - registration is required for both authorisation and publishing of documents, so most users will have registered anyway
    • User lists - identify one or more Drumlin users who may view/print the document. Makes the Basic DRM files restructed to the selected users
