Drumlin Secure PDF Publishing and PDF Reading - Main Features
- Create .DRMX files (encrypted PDF files) from source .PDF files - extremely secure encryption system, with file access authorization via central Digital Rights Management (DRM) control - details of the security model and background to the local, central and communications security system used are available to corporate customer security departments on a confidential basis - see Permission settings, below, for more details
- Create .DRMZ files (encapsulated PDF files) from source .PDF files - secure encapsulation system, for iPAD-compatible cross-platform files, with file access authorization via central Digital Rights Management (DRM) control
- Create .DRM files (encrypted PDFs with additional controls but not requiring authorization). User-specific DRMs can also be created via the User Lists facility enabling DRMs to be sent to users and not require an authorization process (effectively these are pre-authorized for one or more users)
- Create "Javelin Click and Go" EXE files (for Windows only) from DRMX files: 3 variants (i) online (DRM) authorized; (ii) offline authorized; (ii) no authorized, just "click and go"
- Permission settings:
- Start and end dates for document opening
- Expires after "nnn" days for document opening - computed from date file is first viewed
- Number of times document may be viewed (1 to unlimited)
- Print control: Number of times document may be printed (0 to unlimited); Number of pages that may be printed (if printing allowed); Network printing enabled/disabled; Strict or Relaxed print control
- Copy protection: Copy of text to clipboard enabled/disabled; copying of authorized file to other PCs will not work!
- Screen grabber program detection (Windows version only)
- Password protection - Drumlin's own secure password protection. Password is required to open a document that has already been authorised (not currently available for Javelin users)
- Must be online: can only be opened if user is online and connection to Drumlin DRM site established - includes client-independent date/time check (not currently available for Javelin users)
- Must be registered: can only be viewed if end user has registered their Drumlin software - registration is required for both authorisation and publishing of documents, so most users will have registered anyway (does not apply for Javelin users)
- User lists - identify one or more Drumlin users who may view/print the document. Restricts the Basic DRM files to the users included on the list
- Intelligent (user/PC specific) watermarking of screen displays and printed output
- Add optional document description, ISBN, Version number and version retention to metadata stored on the Drumlin central DRM server
- Publishing details logged to local disk file (PublishingHistory.csv) - also logged to central Drumlin DRM server
- Range of additional user- and document-related security facilities built in to the reader and service operation. Details available on application
- Download secure document (Enterprise customers only)
